AAOS 2027lead capture
The honest read on AAOS 2027: what the organizer scanner really costs, what the badge encodes, and whether the venue WiFi holds up. Tendro is a lead capture app: your booth team scans badges and business cards with their phones, and it is $499 flat for the whole team at one event. One $499 fee covers every phone on your booth staff, instead of renting scanners per device.
Test the free desk trial: point a phone at last year's badges and a stack of business cards and judge the enrichment yourself. No credit card.

The scanner cost
What does lead retrieval cost at AAOS 2027?
The published 2027 SWAP order form runs $470 to $705 per device or package, with one dated rate cutoff before the show.
These are current numbers, not a prior-year proxy. Maritz SWAP publishes the 2027 form in the open, and the form prints its own cutoffs. The advance rate runs through January 20, 2027; every order after that pays the second column. The last tier carries no end date. It runs to the show.
| Device (2027 form) | Through 1/20/27 | After 1/20/27 |
|---|---|---|
| App on your own device (one activation) | $470 | $540 |
| App package (three activations) | $645 | $705 |
| Handheld rental (one activation) | $625 | $705 |
| Tablet rental (one activation) | $625 | $705 |
The add-ons ride on top of the device line, advance and after-cutoff: Event API $1,155 and $1,370; Bluetooth printer $150 and $175, pairing with one device only; custom qualifiers or surveys $155 and $175; booth delivery $210 and $240; Digital Backpack $250 and $275. Every activation past the three in the app package is $150, for single booths only. Processing is $9.99, waived when you order through the SWAP online portal, and sales tax is extra.
The form also prices the failure case. Purchase orders are not accepted; cancellation outside the last 30 days is $100, inside it no refund. Leads captured as badge images or handwritten badge IDs can be uploaded within 14 days after the event and carry a data services fee the form does not state. The fine print adds that every registrant agrees to terms of use that include sharing their personal information with exhibitors via lead retrieval, and that Maritz recommends exhibitors get their own privacy advice.
The 2027 Maritz SWAP order form (code AOS271) is public at the AAOS manual URL ahead of the full Exhibitor Service Manual on October 22, 2026. Orders go through exhibitor.swap.mge360.com, and the advance rate ends on January 20, 2027. Source.
The badge
What does the AAOS 2027 badge actually encode?
AAOS badges carry a QR code, scanned at session doors. AAOS has not published what it encodes; Maritz SWAP resolves it for exhibitors.
AAOS confirms the badge carries a QR code: Specialty Society sessions are programmed to the attendee badge and the QR is scanned at the session room door. No public 2027 source states what that QR encodes. The conservative assumption is an organizer ID resolved only by Maritz SWAP, and the form's own provision for uploading badge images and handwritten badge IDs after the event points the same way. Tendro reads the printed face by OCR and enriches the contact; it does not resolve the organizer's ID. A vCard or MeCard QR, if a badge carries one, decodes directly.
No universal app, Tendro included, decodes the organizer's encoded badge ID; what Tendro reads is the printed face, the name, title, and company, and enrichment fills the verified email and firmographics the badge leaves off. Same for business cards and QR codes.
So the honest limit carries its own fix: without the organizer's licensed access (the rented scanner or a paid event API) no app resolves the encoded ID, and OCR plus enrichment returns the named, verified contact without waiting on the rental. The universal badge scanner explainer walks through how.
One more thing worth checking: exhibitor contracts vary on third-party capture policies, so read yours before the show.
The WiFi
Does the WiFi hold up at The Venetian Convention & Expo Center?
The Venetian does not sell or rent wireless routers, so a booth that wants WiFi brings its own access point and orders bandwidth to feed it.
The venue sizes that bandwidth order by device count: 3 Mbps for three devices or fewer, 10 or 20 Mbps for four to ten, then 30 Mbps and up in ten-megabit steps. It publishes no price for any of those tiers, and the ordering portal is not open to the public.
It gets worse under load. Show-floor WiFi is half-duplex, and per Cisco's high-density WiFi design guidance, a single access point degrades past roughly 25 clients per radio. The busiest hour on the floor is the hour the signal is thinnest.
Tendro captures to the phone first. Every scan queues locally with its real timestamp and syncs in order when the connection returns, so a soft WiFi bar never costs you a lead. The offline capture write-up covers how the queue behaves when the venue drops.
The alternative
What is the $499-per-event alternative?
Tendro is $499 per event with unlimited team members, never per device. A five-person booth pays one flat fee, not five rentals.
AAOS moves to Las Vegas for 2027, and its Maritz SWAP order form is already public, weeks before the October 22 exhibitor manual. The advance column runs through January 20, 2027: one app activation on your own phone is $470, then $540; the three-activation package is $645, then $705; a rented handheld or tablet is $625, then $705. Every activation past three is $150. AAOS also caps booth staff at five exhibitor badges per 100 square feet and sells no extras, so a 10x10 booth fields five reps at most. Put all five on their own phones and it is $645 plus two $150 activations, $945 before processing, delivery or a printer, and $1,005 after January 20. The same booth on Tendro is $499 flat. The floor is also shorter than the meeting: AAOS runs Wednesday to Saturday, but the exhibit hall is open March 3 to 5 only and closes at 3 p.m. on Friday.
The desk trial
How do you test it before AAOS 2027?
Run the free desk test before AAOS 2027: scan old badges and business cards, judge the enrichment, then decide.
The free trial is the scan-and-enrichment desk test. Point a phone at last year's badges and a stack of business cards, watch what Tendro reads and enriches, and grade the data before AAOS 2027 opens.
We do not publish a blanket enrichment match rate. Industrial badges enrich differently than SaaS ones, which is exactly why the desk test exists: run it on your own badge stack.
The free trial covers capture and enrichment; CRM sync switches on with your first paid event, so you test field mapping against a real show, not a sandbox. The desk test costs a lunch break and answers the enrichment question before any show is on the line.
