The scanner cost
What does lead retrieval cost at CES 2027?
The published 2027 SWAP order form runs $479 to $599 per device or package, and the rate steps up twice before the show.
These are current numbers, not a prior-year proxy. Maritz SWAP publishes the 2027 form in the open, and the form prints its own cutoffs. Rates step up after October 28 and again after December 9, 2026. The last tier carries no end date. It runs to the show.

The add-ons sit on top of the device line. Every activation past the three in the app package is $149, for single booths only. A Bluetooth printer is $100, $125 or $150 by the same cutoffs and pairs with one device only. Custom qualifiers or surveys are a flat $99, delivery to the booth a flat $200, and the Event API, which lets your developers pull scans into your own lead system, a flat $950. There is a $9.99 processing fee, waived when you order through the online lead portal, and sales tax is extra.
The same form prices the failure case. Purchase orders are not accepted, cancellation more than 30 days out is $100 and inside 30 days there is no refund, and an app activation covers this one event only. Leads captured as badge images or handwritten badge IDs can be uploaded within 14 days after the show and carry a data services fee. That is the organizer's own fallback for a badge its scanner could not read.

The badge
What does the CES 2027 badge actually encode?
CES has not published what its 2027 badge encodes. Assume an ID that only the Maritz SWAP scanner resolves.
CES prints the registrant's photo on every badge, sends a confirmation QR used only for badge pickup, and publishes the SWAP order form, but no public 2027 source states the badge's own code type or what it encodes. The conservative assumption is an organizer ID resolved only by the Maritz scanner, and the form's provision for uploading badge images and handwritten IDs after the show points the same way. Tendro reads the printed face by OCR and enriches the contact; it does not resolve the organizer's ID. A vCard or MeCard QR, if a badge carries one, decodes directly.
No universal app, Tendro included, decodes the organizer's encoded badge ID; what Tendro reads is the printed face, the name, title, and company, and enrichment fills the verified email and firmographics the badge leaves off. Same for business cards and QR codes.
So the honest limit carries its own fix: without the organizer's licensed access (the rented scanner or a paid event API) no app resolves the encoded ID, and OCR plus enrichment returns the named, verified contact without waiting on the rental. One more thing worth checking: exhibitor contracts vary on third-party capture policies, so read yours before the show.
The WiFi
Does the WiFi hold up at Las Vegas Convention Center?
LVCC booth internet is Spectrum Business only: a 10-user 5 Mbps hotspot is $1,750 advance or $2,100 standard, and a 3 Mbps wired drop starts at $500.
The CES 2027 LVCC manual names Spectrum Business the exclusive provider of internet, voice and video at the convention center. A shared Business Starter wired drop is up to 3 Mbps with one private IP address, $500 advance or $600 standard, up to three addresses in total; Business Select at 10 Mbps is $750 or $900; routers, servers and NAT devices are not allowed on shared bandwidth. The booth hotspot is sold by user count: up to 10 users at 5 Mbps is $1,750 advance or $2,100 standard, 25 users $2,500 or $3,000, and the 10 Mbps versions start at $2,000. Every phone on the booth that needs the hotspot counts against that user cap, and an exhibitor running its own router or access point must tell Spectrum at least three weeks before the show.
The CES manual puts the Spectrum advance deadline at December 7, 2026, with service live by midnight on January 5, and adds 20% of the standard rate to any order received after December 30.
It gets worse under load. Show-floor WiFi is half-duplex, and per Cisco's high-density WiFi design guidance, a single access point degrades past roughly 25 clients per radio. The busiest hour on the floor is the hour the signal is thinnest.

CES's 2027 form is public and its first price column is still open: Maritz SWAP rates hold until October 28, step up once to December 9, and step again after that. Read the rows side by side and the form prices one rented handheld exactly the same as three app activations on your own phones, $549, then $579, then $599. The cheapest device is the tablet rental at $479 to $549. A five-rep booth on its own phones is the $549 package plus two $149 activations, $847 before delivery, a printer or the $950 Event API line that moves scans into your own CRM, and $897 if you order after December 9. The same booth on Tendro is $499 flat, however many phones. Two CES-specific facts sit on the form and the show site. Maritz runs both registration and lead retrieval, and the form says every registrant agreed at sign-up to share their details with exhibitors through lead retrieval, which makes the rented scanner the sanctioned channel for that record. And CTA warns exhibitors that emails offering a CES attendance list are a scam, because CTA does not sell or publish the list.
